Fractured Realms

2D Platformer Game - Capstone Project

Click here for the prototype and the game.

Fractured Realms is a 2D narrative-driven platformer developed as a capstone game project during my second year in the New Media program (Centennial College jointed program). The project brings together gameplay mechanics, storytelling, sound design, and interface systems to create a cohesive interactive experience that reflects the full scope of our second-year technical and creative training.

The game follows a princess’s journey across fragmented realms, combining level-based challenges with environmental storytelling. Designed as a side-scrolling platformer, Fractured Realms integrates character movement, obstacle systems, collectibles, health mechanics, and narrative progression across multiple levels and interactive scenes.

Within the team, I took on multiple core roles, including game coding and system design, music composition, project management, and UI/UX prototyping in Figma. From early brainstorming and narrative development to Unity-based implementation and interface design, I was involved throughout the entire production pipeline. I contributed directly to gameplay logic, audio integration, and the coordination of assets and timelines to ensure the project’s completion as a cohesive whole.

The project also incorporates motion and promotional components developed through After Effects, alongside visual assets created in Photoshop and gameplay implementation in Unity. As a result, Fractured Realms serves as a comprehensive demonstration of how technical skills, creative tools, and collaborative workflows intersect in game and interactive media production.

This project represents a key moment in my practice, where design, code, sound, and storytelling operate as a single system, rather than isolated disciplines.
